On 25 August, Bucovina Institute Association brought together project partners, educators, women entrepreneurs and experts for a discussion on how financial education can better respond to the needs of migrant women. The meeting marked the pre-piloting stage of the Competence Framework developed within the WISE4Women – Financial Intelligence of Immigrant Women for Independent Stability and Empowerment project.

WISE4Women aims to help migrant women develop practical financial skills and feel more confident managing their money. Settling into a new country often means becoming familiar with different financial services and ways of handling everyday expenses. Through its educational resources, the project seeks to make this process easier and support women in building greater economic independence.

The meeting offered participants an opportunity to review the proposed framework and contribute to its development. Drawing on their professional and practical experience, they discussed its content and structure, considering how it could provide a useful foundation for future learning materials and activities.

Much of the discussion focused on the situations migrant women may encounter when navigating unfamiliar financial systems. Participants reflected on possible barriers, learning needs and everyday financial decisions, sharing ideas on how these experiences could be reflected in the project’s educational approach. They also proposed ways to make the future resources more accessible, understandable and relevant to the women who will use them.

The range of perspectives shared during the session was particularly valuable. Bringing together people with experience in education, entrepreneurship and other relevant fields allowed the framework to be considered from different angles. Their input helped the partnership explore how the proposed content could work in practice and where further improvements might be needed.

The feedback gathered during the meeting will support the next stages of revision and testing. As WISE4Women moves forward, these contributions will help shape learning materials and activities that support migrant women in understanding their options and making informed financial decisions.

The WISE4Women partnership thanks Delia Leizeriuc, Nicoleta Dăneasa, Viviana Hutuleac, Alina Iacoboia and Monica Crețu for their time, openness and thoughtful contributions. Their involvement helps the partnership develop resources that reflect everyday experience and can offer practical support to migrant women on their path towards financial independence.
